About Mr. Mekala

Narasimha Rao Mekala studied Mechanical Engineering at the University of India from 2004 until 2010 and received his Ph.D. in 2015 at the RWTH Aachen University. During his education he specialized in Machine Design and developed a profound knowledge in the fields of linear and nonlinear finite element methods, modeling of multi-physics coupled smart materials and structures as well as in the research of progressive failure modeling of composite structures. Mr. Mekala received in 2009 the DAAD Sandwich Master scholarship and received in 2013 the Travel Award, Euromech Colloquium 541. His career started in 2011 as a research assistant at Institute of General Mechanics (IAM) at the RWTH Aachen. Since 2014, Mr. Mekala works as research assistant at the Institute of Structural Mechanics and Lightweight Design and is responsible for the research fields of smart structure modeling: Multi-Physics coupled models as well as Failure Analysis of unidirectional and woven fabric composites. His practice area consists as well of teaching the courses Fundamentals of Lightweight Design, Processes and Principles of Lightweight Design and Finite Elements Methods in Lightweight Design.
